Researchers from the University of Leeds will integrate the Poll with data on vulnerabilities, governance, and long-term climate projections to identify predictors of disaster risk perception and preparedness, and develop context-appropriate early warning and risk communication strategies.

Lloyd’s Register Foundation, the global safety charity, is looking to commission a number of investigative and creative storytellers – whether journalists, photographers, videographers or documentary film-makers – to tell the human stories of people around the globe affected by safety issues – from violence and harassment at work to climate change-related severe weather events – identified by the World Risk Poll.

Turning the World Risk Poll into Action: ongoing funding call

Following the announcement of the first cohort of projects to be awarded grants from the ‘Turning the 2021 World Risk Poll into Action’ funding call, Lloyd’s Register Foundation is making further funding available on an ongoing basis for organisations who can use World Risk Poll data for research and practical interventions to improve safety.

Pessimism and worry: how women’s perceptions and experiences of risk differ globally

The Lloyd’s Register Foundation World Risk Poll is a hugely valuable resource to understand how women perceive and experience a wide range of risks at the global scale. The 125,000 people interviewed for the 2021 Poll included 66,000 women across 121 counties, including places where little or no official data on these safety issues exists. Using this full dataset, it is possible to identify specific groups who may be at elevated risk, allowing for the creation and implementation of highly targeted intervention strategies.
